The premise

Holiness seldom arrives in the form we expect.

These are not eight interchangeable heroes. They are scholars and wanderers, mystics and missionaries, people misunderstood by their own times—and sometimes by their own Church.

Each story asks what it means to meet an unforeseen calling within the particular drama of a human life.
